5/5/05
I love palindromes (you know—a word, verse, number etc that reads the same front or backwards) and repeating numbers. I was married on 5/22/99, although 9/9/99 would have been even “cooler”. Today is not only Cinco de Mayo, but it is also an interesting “number” day—5/5/05. I remember that when the Duke & Duchess of York’s daughter was born (I can’t recall which one—Eugenie or Beatrice) her birthdate was 8/8/88. The date was viewed by the “experts” (read: astrologists) as being very lucky.
You may remember from childhood things like “Madam in Eden I’m Adam”—ha ha!! The other cool remembrance from my girlhood days is the paradoxes:
"One fine day in the middle of the night"
One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys* got up to fight, [*or men]
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
One was blind and the other couldn't, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"
A paralysed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

Funny stuff that.
