Tabula Rasa
My son painted a picture today on a blank canvas I had tucked in our closet. The baby was sleeping so he had my full attention , paintbrushes, & a palette. He painted an amazing scene called "Hail Storm", complete with our house & hail stones hitting the roof & lawn.
What amazed me is that he painted with abandon, without concern for the rules of composition, color theory & such that we are fed in art classes. It is an unadultered masterpiece (in my unbiased opinion--smirk) replete with almost every color under the rainbow. He even autographed it with his initials.
We entered it in the Stampede show & the person manning the registration table commented on the beautiful bright colors. She couldn't believe he was only 4. There's an opening reception for the showing. I can't wait for him to experience having his first canvas on the wall. He was excited to see all of the other paintings that were around, waiting to be hung, but he really wanted to know where his was going to go. He also wanted top put it up for sale, but I told him we would keep it. A budding artist, but also an entrepreneur.
